Gentrification & the US Housing Boom: understanding holistic community development & the symptoms of deficient development practices  

Community development is often understood differently by different stakeholders.  Real estate investors have come to understand community development as façade improvement and the development of new housing, while others simply see community development as the enhancement of profits, tax base, and jobs.  Amidst these single sided views of community development, symptoms of deficient development practices are emerging and evident.  Debates regarding gentrification, urban sprawl, and the recent housing boom have consumed communities across America. 

What is gentrification and its effects on our communities?  What role can your organization, business, school, and government play in the proper development of the community?  How do you develop strategies for businesses, schools, non-profits, and governments to avoid deficient practices? 

Our workshop will begin to approach each of these questions and outline the strategic facilitation of various the perspectives necessary to achieve your community’s holistic development. 

We invite businesses, schools, non-profits, community leaders, and all conference attendees interested to discuss short-term solutions and a long-term strategic vision; we invite all of you to discuss the cimientos and structure of your community.
