keynote Address: developing our collective future

This is an adapted version of our research piece currently being presented to officials of the 15 cities selected to participate in the International Community Development Lab (ICDL).  The presentation will be a tailored version for the PSLC that highlights that we are living through the biggest period of change the world has had in generations.  It overviews worldwide trends of growth and development trends including education, business, technology, economics, civic engagement, and public policy.  Given drastic changes in the world, it discusses what our individual roles should be to develop our collective future.

Workshop 11:15am

-Research Based-

In this workshop, we close in on what is happening with civic engagement (including voting) in the United States in comparison to the rest of the world.  The workshop engages in an open discusion about the need for people to be civically engaged by volunteering, voting, being entrepreneurs, founding new organizations, etc. to ensure the development of our community.  This workshop follows up in detail what will be presented at the breakfast presentation.  This presentation approaches these questions and dynamically engages the audience in a process of reflection and discussion.
