Cimientos President & CEO, Hector H. Lopez met with Executive Director Adam Chavarria and Deputy Director Romanita Matta Barrera of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans to brief on the National Hispanic Institute's latest national research study entitled Changing the Educational Culture of Underperforming Latino Youth. The briefing included a range of topics including the capacity and infrastructure of Hispanic serving community based organizations as well as the potential roles of government, K-12 public schools, colleges and universities. The discussion also included education reform and academic preparation. As a result Cimientos President Hector H. Lopez and the National Hispanic Institute were invited to participate in the White House American Competitiveness Initiative.
